Model credits and usage
Understand Design Plan credits, plan model credits, usage windows, and how to share your allowance across Open Design and other agents.

1. How credits are used and what happens when they run out
Open Design provides Design Plan credits and plan model credits. Go includes only Design Plan credits. Plus, Pro, and Max include bonus Design Plan credits alongside their plan model credits.
Models in the other model group draw directly from plan model credits. Design Plan models follow these rules:
Go
Go uses Design Plan credits only and has no additional plan model credits. After reaching a 5-hour or 7-day limit, wait for the corresponding window to reset.
Plus / Pro / Max
Design Plan bonus credits are used first. Once exhausted, further usage automatically draws from plan model credits. Requests stop when those credits also run out, unless auto-recharge is enabled.
Usage inside Open Design and through the Open Design API shares the same credits and usage windows. Drawing from existing plan credits is different from auto-recharge. Auto-recharge causes an actual payment and depends on whether you enabled it.
2. Credits by plan
The 7-day and 5-hour windows apply only to Design Plan credits. Plan model credits are not subject to these two windows.

Prices are regular monthly subscription prices, excluding introductory and annual discounts. Other amounts are model usage credits, not cash balances or fixed request counts. The 7-day and 5-hour limits apply only to Design Plan credits. Plan model credits have no such windows and are granted and reset per billing cycle.

These models share one Design Plan allowance. The model list may change as new models are released.
Go includes Design Plan models but does not include image generation.
3. Design Plan usage windows and resets
These windows apply only to Design Plan credits: Go has both 5-hour and 7-day windows; Plus, Pro, and Max have only a 7-day window. Plan model credits have neither window and are granted and reset per billing cycle.
For new subscriptions, the 7-day window starts when the subscription begins and resets every 7 days.
Your 7-day window resets the following Wednesday at 10:00 AM, rather than on Monday or the first day of a calendar month.
4. View your usage
View credit consumption and manage your plan and wallet in the OpenDesign Cloud console. Refer to your account for the credits currently available.
View credits and usage ↗5. Use credits in other agents with an Open Design API Key
Use an Open Design API Key to access Open Design models from agents including Codex, Claude Code, DSH, OpenCode, and Hermes. An API key connects your tool to the Open Design model service.
Use your API Key on other platforms to call Design Plan models and plan models supported by your subscription. Design Plan models use Design Plan credits first, then any remaining plan model credits (Go has no plan model credits). Plan models use plan model credits directly. API and OpenDesign share the same credits; the maximum monthly total matches your plan card. Using external tools does not grant additional credits or reset usage windows.
The API supports OpenAI Chat Completions, OpenAI Responses, and Anthropic Messages. Other tools that support custom API endpoints and keys may also work; compatibility depends on testing.
An Open Design API Key is different from BYOK. The former uses Open Design credits; BYOK uses your own model provider key, with costs and allowances managed by that provider.
