01 What It Does

Rebuild Slide Images as Editable PowerPoint

Reconstruct slides with editppt, using a local process for one page or assigned workers for multiple pages, then validate and assemble the deck.

Source-based workflowNot an execution benchmark

The Working Approach

Image to Editable PPT targets an existing visual deck: screenshots, scans, PDFs, or image-based PPT/PPTX files. Its editppt runtime prepares page inputs, coordinates reconstruction, validates per-page artifacts, and assembles a final PowerPoint from authoritative manifests. It is explicitly different from writing a new presentation from a topic.

The source requires object-level reconstruction and rejects a full-slide raster with text overlaid as an acceptable shortcut. Speaker notes are preserved when supplied, and deck-level checks include slide mapping, media relationships, and provenance hashes. These are workflow requirements described by the author; this page does not claim a sample deck has been converted or visually matched.

Expected Deliverables

  • An editable .pptx reconstructed from the supplied visual slides.
  • Per-page manifests, previews, and validation records.
  • A final deck validation result including supplied speaker-note preservation.

From Brief to Review

  1. 01
    Prepare the Source Deck

Use editppt to create a resumable run and page jobs from the actual inputs. Confirm OCR and image-backend availability before reconstruction.

  2. 02
    Reconstruct Each Assigned Page

A single page uses the local mode; multi-page inputs require dispatched page workers under the source's ownership contract.

  3. 03
    Validate and Record

Check page objects against their manifests and repair rejected pages before recording them.

  4. 04
    Finalize the Deck

Rebuild from recorded manifests and verify package structure, page count, media, and notes.

02 When to Use It

When to Use It

Requires the editppt CLI, suitable image-generation capabilities, and multi-agent execution for multi-page runs. PaddleOCR is an optional configured aid; offline hints have a different quality profile.

A Good Fit

  • Screenshot-Only PresentationsUseful when the visual content exists but its text and shapes cannot be edited.
  • Scanned or Flattened DecksProvides a reconstruction workflow for PDFs and image-based presentation files.

Limits to Check

  • Not New-Deck AuthoringThe source explicitly excludes creating a presentation from scratch.
  • External Processing May ApplyConfigured OCR and image-generation backends can process task-local images; confidential or local-only requirements need an explicit compatible path.
  • Not Guaranteed Pixel IdentityStructural validation and visual reconstruction are different checks; small visual warnings must be reported honestly.

Bring These Inputs

  • Original Visual SlidesSupply images, PDF pages, or the image-based PPT/PPTX.
  • Speaker NotesInclude notes when they should survive conversion.
  • Processing ConstraintsState confidentiality, allowed external services, and available agent/runtime capabilities.

03 Decisions That Matter

Decisions That Matter

  1. Manifest-Based Rebuild

The final deck is assembled from object manifests, making it more than a collection of intermediate screenshots.

  2. Page Ownership

The source distinguishes single-page local reconstruction from multi-page workers to keep state and artifacts resumable.

  3. Notes Are Checked

Notes preservation is treated as a validation concern rather than an incidental export detail.

04 Try a Focused Brief

Try a Focused Brief

The example brief below has not been tested. Check the skill’s setup before using it.

Review the Setup

The source documents installing the Skill through the skills CLI and installing its local CLI with pipx. Follow the repository's current pre-run guide and verify editppt doctor; the agent identifier and skill directory are environment-specific.

Start With One Deliverable

Adapt the scope, source material and constraints in this brief before running the skill.

Example Brief
Use image-to-editable-ppt to reconstruct the attached three-slide PDF as editable PowerPoint. Preserve the supplied notes, first check editppt and the required multi-page worker capability, and explain any external OCR or image processing needed. Deliver the PPTX with page and deck validation results; do not use full-slide screenshots with text overlays as the reconstruction.

Inspect the Result

Check the actual output against these observable criteria.

  • The final file opens as a valid PPTX with the expected page count.
  • Text and foreground objects are reconstructed rather than only overlaid on a slide image.
  • Recorded manifests and supplied notes match the final deck checks.

06 Questions Before You Start

Questions Before You Start

Can it simply place each image on a slide?

That would not meet the source's editable-reconstruction contract. A full-slide raster plus editable text overlay is specifically rejected.

Is OCR required?

The workflow supports content-aware PaddleOCR hints and an offline fallback. If no token is configured, the source asks the user to choose before reconstruction starts. A blocked OCR connection should not silently become offline processing; confidential or local-only inputs also need an explicitly compatible path.

Can one agent rebuild a multi-page deck serially?

The source requires dispatched workers for multi-page runs and reserves local reconstruction for a single-page run. A compatible execution environment is therefore important.
