Connect an external agent with MCP
Use OpenDesign MCP when another agent needs to work with your OpenDesign project. This is a tool connection, separate from choosing a model provider.
Copy the configuration for your agent
Open Settings → OpenDesign MCP. Select the target agent in the menu, then copy the command or configuration generated on this device. Follow that agent's documented configuration method and restart it if required. Keep OpenDesign running while the external agent connects. The command contains device-specific details; use your own app's configuration rather than copying a screenshot.
Verify the project connection
Ask the external agent to identify the active OpenDesign project or read a known file. Check that it is working in the project you intended before asking it to create or change files.
Understand what MCP does
MCP exposes project and design tools to an external agent. It does not sign that agent into its model account, supply API credits, or replace an OpenDesign subscription. Configure those separately.
If the connection fails
Confirm the target agent's configuration location, executable path, and supported transport. Restart the target agent after changing its configuration, keep OpenDesign open, and inspect the connection error before repeating setup. Remove private local paths and tokens from any diagnostic material you share.
